Pregnancy Scanning 

Our state-of-the-art facility houses the very best in reproductive technology. We are serious about giving you and your dog a gold standard service.

Our experienced team can assist you in viewing your dog’s litter via ultrasound technology and provide you with images taken on the day. We recommend scanning your dog for the first time at around 30 to 35 days post insemination, where scans should show clear heart beats and rib formation. At this stage, the risk of resorption should have passed. It is possible to perform early scans, at around 28 days post insemination, however confirmation is less accurate.

When you arrive, our team will allow your dog time to relax prior to the scan. We then ask your dog to lay down on her side to allow us to clip a small amount of hair from the abdomen and to perform the scan.

Vaccinations

When puppies are born they are normally protected from diseases by the mother’s milk (providing she has been regularly vaccinated). However, protection from the mother’s milk only lasts for a few weeks.

Therefore, it is important to vaccinate your pets regularly from a young age. Typically, the first vaccination is given to puppies at 8 weeks of age.

During the vaccination consult, our vet will perform a full health check of your pet. Vaccinating your pet gives protection against some serious life-threatening and debilitating conditions. Vaccination can also help prevent the spread of these serious diseases.

The vaccinations we administer cover:

• Canine Distemper Virus

• Canine Hepatitis

• Canine Parvovirus

• Canine Leptospira

Microchipping

Elite Kennel Fertility can microchip and register your litter on a national database making the process easy and hassle free. We perform the microchipping by lifting a small amount of skin on the back of the puppy’s neck. The chip is inserted under the skin between the shoulder blades, this area is then scanned to make sure the microchip is in place.

We advise to have your puppies rescanned prior to leaving for their new homes ensuring the microchip has not migrated.

Since 6th April 2016 it has been law that all dogs are microchipped before the age of eight weeks old.
